Cameo in Bazura

A new ABC2 show is going to do a tongue-in-cheek investigation of the sinful side of cinema. The Bazura Project began life on community television as a movie appreciation and review show. Hosts Shannon Marinko and Lee Zachariah have made the move to the ABC for a 6-part series covering violence, sex, money, profanity, drugs and fame.

Shaun, along with Tony Martin and Kat Stewart, have all filmed cameos for the new series, which starts Thursday September 29th at 9pm.

Update: Shaun will be voicing the role of the robot MK-Ultra in all six episodes!

Having a Quiet Word

Saturday night at 9:30pm on ABC1 is when you can see A Quiet Word with Shaun Micallef, with Tony Martin in the roll of interviewer/converser.

If you can’t be in front of a TV at that time, catch it on iView. We’ll also try to transcribe as much as we can for posting later.

Shaun is also the visiting scrivener at Tony’s blog, so read his contribution: The Resolute President.

Interviews with Shaun

Just a reminder – you only have until Thursday to submit your questions for our interview with Shaun. The best questions will then be submitted, so we can get some answers! (Unless we can’t handle the truth?)

Speaking of which, we are very excited to see Tony Martin’s show A Quiet Word With… will be featuring Shaun on 28th of May. With the show format resembling an informal chat, this should prove to be a must see!

Shaun at the 2011 Logies

Well, unfortunately, Shaun or Your Gen didn’t win in any of their nominated categories.

But we did get a few great moments from Mr Micallef. During a ‘Logie Minute’, he and Stephen Curry had fun at each other’s expense (with some comment made about Shaun’s loud shirt) and at Richard Wilkins. Shaun was introduced as a ‘national treasure’ before he presented the Silver Logies for Most Popular Male and Female Actress. He relished the opportunity to relate these Logies to be like Andre Reiu – not necessarily the best, but the most loved.

Return of the G-Bomb on Laid

I thought Shaun’s follow up appearance on the fourth episode of Laid was fantastic. The relaxed attitude in the face of Rue’s anxiety over the mysterious deaths of her boyfriends and the recommendation to visit the Shaman (Shar-man or Shay-man?) called Zalan (or does he prefer Alan?) It was certainly another fine acting performance from Mr Micallef.

If you missed it last Wednesday, check it out on ABC iView.

Causing mayhem on The Circle

Sorry for the late post, but Shaun appeared on The Circle again last week, and as usual, went completely off script! He talked about his books, defended his romantic side and gave his Christopher Walken impression.

After his scheduled appearance, he broke into the following segment with Chef Wan, asking for his parking to be validated. It was up to Colin to stop him from causing more trouble!

The G-Bomb!

I forgot to post about how wonderful Shaun was on Laid last week, playing Roo’s gynocologist – or as the credits put it: G-Bomb. According to IMDb, ‘G-Bomb’ will return in Episode 4, to air March 2nd. Until then, you can watch Episode 2 on ABC iView. The series continues with Episode 3 on Wednesday at 9:30pm.

Variety on the cards again for Shaun

Shaun has confirmed he will be filming a pilot for a new variety show on Channel 10.

Being interviewed for the Herald Sun, has admitted “I’m doing a pilot in July. Any variety show worth its salt is live. There’s a big taste for that at the moment.” He went on to describe his current relationship with Ten as a “good one”, which he wants to build on. He’s also talking to them about other projects.

He describes his current show, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, as having the most “real” version of himself, unlike shows such as The Micallef P(r)ogram(me) and even Micallef Tonight. Of the reason for using a “character” version of himself previously, “Perhaps I hid behind characters was, ‘What if they don’t like me?’ ”

He’s very flattered by the success of TAYG, which culminated in his winning of a Logie for Most Popular Presenter.

Let me be the first to say – if you need someone for your audience Shaun, I’ll be there with bells on!

Laid starts tonight

Marieke Hardy’s ABC comedy series Laid starts Wednesday (that’s tonight!) at 9:30pm – don’t miss it, as Shaun is almost certain to appear in the first episode. Besides, it’s an excuse to hear him say “Penis Aneurism” again!

It’s right after Adam Hill’s “In Gordon Street Tonight” at 8:30pm, so why not watch that too? 🙂

Edit: OK, so you’ll have to wait till next week to see Shaun’s bit, but at least it will be in context!
