The Collected Shaun DVD Set

After rumours last year, finally The Collected Shaun Micallef DVD Box Set is now out in stores (also here)!

The box set includes 10 DVDs and 1 CD:

Originally, the box set was to include Shaun Micallef’s New Years Rave, shown on Channel Ten at the end of 2009, but that seems to have been omitted. That means all of the DVDs (and CD) in the box have been previously released individually.

Another glaring omission is of course Welcher and Welcher, which was released last year.

Cameo in Bazura

A new ABC2 show is going to do a tongue-in-cheek investigation of the sinful side of cinema. The Bazura Project began life on community television as a movie appreciation and review show. Hosts Shannon Marinko and Lee Zachariah have made the move to the ABC for a 6-part series covering violence, sex, money, profanity, drugs and fame.

Shaun, along with Tony Martin and Kat Stewart, have all filmed cameos for the new series, which starts Thursday September 29th at 9pm.

Update: Shaun will be voicing the role of the robot MK-Ultra in all six episodes!

Season finale for TAYG

This Sunday’s episode is the last for this season of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, after Channel Ten burnt through the remainder of the shows which were expected to run til November. (Glee has replaced TAYG on this Wednesday). The Sci Fi episode was to be the finale (hence the E.O.S. 2011 on the floor plate – End of Series), but the order has been changed.

An article in the Melbourne Weekly highlights just how popular the show is, and this has been reflected in the visits to this very website after each broadcast! Of course, long term Micallef fans would be well and truly familiar with his gems of work.

The rumor about Shaun leaving TAYG next year still circles, and while nothing lasts forever, my bet is we’ll seen Shaun tackle at least one more season next year, along with something else.

Double the TAYG

Well, looks like Channel Ten is stuffing around with the Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation schedule again.

Due to the failing ratings of The Renovators, Your Gen is now on twice (at least this) week:

On Wednesday at 8:30pm, the guests are Tiriel Mora, Genevieve Morris and Patience Hodgson.

On Sunday at 7:30pm, it’s the roll-swap, ‘freaky friday’ episode –  trust me, do not miss it! Those who did not know what they were in for are Cornelia Frances, Jimeoin and Natalie Tran.

Shaun’s media appearance round-up

On “The Circle”, 10/8:
Gropes all of the hosts before talking about TAYG, Laid, acting, the John Williams concert, Preincarnate

On “Drive with The Doctor” on Triple J, 10/8 (from the 30:50 point):
Talk about hair, Laid, Your Gen, Adam Hills, Josh Thomas, the topsy-turvey TAYG episode, the Census and the John Williams concert

On “The 7PM Project“, 10/8
Talks about his new fashion line and the difference of Your Gen being at 8:30pm

On “Saturday Morning Monty“, 6/8 (all 18 mins):
Judging each other (and an overdue library book), his three (unidentified) sons, banana bread, dunk-a-roos, Jack Fidgen, school claim-to-fame, newspaper headlines

Micallef with the SSO

This weekend, the Sydney Symphony is performing the music of US composer John Williams, and Shaun will be presenting it – although he promises to be ”sitting very quietly on a stool”.

John Williams is perhaps best known for composing the score for the Star Wars films, which earned him one of his five Oscars, as well as Jaws, the Harry Potter movies and Jurassic Park.

In an article with The Age/SMH, Shaun also admits he is an “acquired taste” (which makes it all the more better), always changing roles or scripts to suit himself; and reveals that the favourite of his TV show themes is “The Micallef Programme” (which makes a great ringtone).

Spoilers from TAYG Sci-Fi episode

Well, my hopes came true – Shaun did indeed dress as The Doctor (as in “Doctor Who”) in the upcoming Sci-Fi episode – specifically, the third doctor! Fan Jenn has kindly sent us in a photo.

We also know that Peter Burne will be one of the guests for the episode.

Add your comment if you know any other juicy details for the (half)-season ahead!

TAYG returning August 10th

The second part of the current series of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation begins next week. However, the programming oracles at Ten have decided on a new timeslot – Wednesdays at 8:30pm (up against the ABCs biggest rating night), rather than the previous Tuesday or Sunday 7:30 slot.

It should be a very funny series, with the first guests being Todd McKenney (BB), Dave Hughes (Gen X) and Kate Miller-Heidke (Gen Y).
