Finally, after much waiting – Preincarnate, A Novella is on the bookshelves. Wait a minute… why I am blogging… I should be down at the bookshop picking up my copy!

It’s not long until Preincarnate, Shaun’s first novel, hits the shelves. The Age have an article about it, but as Tony Martin pointed out on his Twitter – they don’t once state the title correctly. Good news is he is no shrinking violet – we can expect to see Shaun everywhere over the next little-while, including the season final of Offspring. If you are expecting another New Years show, afraid you’ll be disappointed this year.
It’s Halloween on TAYG this week, with everyone donning the fancy dress. Angus Sampson returns for Gen X, playing up a bit for Mr Micallef. Kathy Lette and Camille Keenan from Rush round out the guests, joining the Baby Boomers and Gen Y respectively.
The following week’s guests are comedian HG Nelson for the Baby Boomers, presenter Chrissie Swan for Gen X and comedian Tim Blackwell for Gen Y.
After a 2-week break, TAYG returns on Tuesday the 19th with the last few episodes for the year.
Guests for next Tuesday are former cricketer Merv Hughes (for the Baby Boomers), actor Deborah Mailman (Gen X, currently starring in Offspring) and television presenter Maude Garrett (Gen Y).
For the end-game challenge: Which is the Greatest Generation at… running a delicatessen!?
The following week, it looks like we can expect a Halloween theme!
Joining Shaun and the team captains this week are singer Leo Sayer (BB), actor Kimberley Davies (Gen Y) and model, come-actor Scott McGregor (Gen Y).
Spoiler – this week’s end game is: Which Generation is Best at Delivery Newspapers!
In case you’ve forgotten: Tuesday, 7:30pm, Channel 10
The Wheeler Centre in Melbourne is hosting an event with Shaun Micallef, on the subject of his new book ‘Preincarnate’, “a novel of such breathtaking brilliance that if Patrick White were alive today he’d hurl his own typewriter into the sea and start a lawn-mowing business.”
It is being held on Monday 22 November 2010 and is free! (Booking is recommended) Not sure what to expect, but I’m sure it will involve some Q&A and a reading.
If my maths serves me right, there are 5 episodes left of this season of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation. Holy Freak!
Next Tuesday, joining the Baby Boomers is comedian Jean Kitson, Todd Sampson from The Gruen Transfer on team Generation X and for Generation Y, Faustina Agolley from Video Hits.
The following week, (Tuesday 21st) is Mark Trevorrow (aka Bob Downe) (BB), musician Clare Bowditch (Gen X) and actor/comedian Josh Lawson (Gen Y).
The thought of Shaun Micallef and Tony Martin working on a TV project together sounds like it would be the most amazing thing EVER! Well, it almost happened in 2004.
A show with the working title MousePATROL was the vehicle, but unfortunately the ABC shelved it, and not much of the material was ever released. But this week, Tony’s post on Scrivener’s Fancy revisits one of the rejected scripts on the topic of ‘Footytainment‘.
Enjoy, and we’ll keep wishing these two comic geniuses will get the chance to work together again.
As already posted, next week we have two episodes of Talkin’ ’bout Your Generation lined up, due to the move from Sunday nights to Tuesday.
This Sunday is a ‘back-to-school’ special with broadcasters Steve Vizard representing the Baby Boomers, Kate Langbroek (Gen X) and Andy Lee (Gen Y) as guests.
On Tuesday, the guests will be actor Lincoln Lewis (Gen Y), comedian Bob Franklin (Gen X) and for the baby boomers, Denise Scott – Shaun’s old radio partner!
After moving to Sunday nights at the start of this year, it looks like TAYG is heading back to Tuesday nights, probably because of Junior Masterchef. (which won’t be on my watching schedule)
So, we can enjoy our dose of Mr Micallef mid-week again starting September 7th – plus when the change over occurs, we’ll get two episodes in three days!
Thanks to Andrew for the alert!
