Variety on the cards again for Shaun

Shaun has confirmed he will be filming a pilot for a new variety show on Channel 10.

Being interviewed for the Herald Sun, has admitted “I’m doing a pilot in July. Any variety show worth its salt is live. There’s a big taste for that at the moment.” He went on to describe his current relationship with Ten as a “good one”, which he wants to build on. He’s also talking to them about other projects.

He describes his current show, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, as having the most “real” version of himself, unlike shows such as The Micallef P(r)ogram(me) and even Micallef Tonight. Of the reason for using a “character” version of himself previously, “Perhaps I hid behind characters was, ‘What if they don’t like me?’ ”

He’s very flattered by the success of TAYG, which culminated in his winning of a Logie for Most Popular Presenter.

Let me be the first to say – if you need someone for your audience Shaun, I’ll be there with bells on!

Your Generation returns for 2011

Ten’s programming department have confirmed that Tuesday, February 8th is the return date for Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation. This is the 3rd year of TAYG (as Shaun pronounces it) and the premiere episode is a special 70 minute length. Woot!

Once again, the call has gone out from the TAYG Facebook page for donated trophies, so we can expect that to return this year. And despite some misplaced rumours, Josh is returning for Gen Y – Shaun joked about him leaving in the final show, but as Josh tweeted it was a joke. Yesterday he tweeted that the first episode had just finished taping – and it was exciting and insane.

The anticipation… (in the meantime, we have repeats of Season 2…)

Shaun to be part of charity Anthology

The Australian Literature Review is compiling a anthology of short-stories, each between 1500-4000 words, on the subjects of Africa and/or human behaviour common throughout the world. A number of writers are on board, including Shaun himself!

The book will be released as an eBook on the Kindle platform in the first few months of 2011. All of the proceeds are being donated to charity: half to improve literacy in developing countries and half to help Australians in their writing endeavours.

No word on what Shaun’s story will be about, but we wait with great interest. Read more about the project or AusLit’s interview with Shaun about Preincarnate.

Shaun wins an AFI

Last night (Friday), Shaun won an AFI Award for Outstanding Achievement in Television Screen Craft. Not bad for a completely talent less berk! 🙂

The Australian Film Industry awards is split into the Industry Awards and the Awards Ceremony (which is televised). At the Industry Awards (held on Friday), the AFI gives a few ‘honorary’ awards out at their discretion. And this year, Shaun was deemed worthy of the award for Television.

Well done, Shaun!

Vote 1 for Shaun!

Voting has opened for the 2011 Logie Awards – Australia’s closest thing to an Emmy.

To vote, you’ll need to choose your favourites in a number of categories (including best new ‘talent’) – but the important thing is you can vote for Shaun as Most Popular Presenter and Most Popular TV Personality – ie. the Gold! You can also cast a vote for TAYG.

You’ll also need to supply your details to validate your vote – but it is well worth it…. for Shaun… 🙂

(PS. You have till February to cast your vote.)
